Josh Brolin on Perspective when Playing Thanos in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
While Avengers: Infinity War has been in theaters for over a month, it’s still a major talking point in the pop culture realm. From the moments of hilarity (few, but powerful) to the heart of the heroes as they faced their greatest challenge, it was easily one of the best superhero films of all time.
For every great hero, there’s a great villain and in Infinity War, it was Thanos. In good stories, the villain brings with it a lot of death and destruction, in very good stories, they do so because they think what they’re fighting for is right.
For Josh Brolin, that was part of the fun of playing Thanos, as he described to Stephen Colbert in an interview recently.
‘That was what was fun about that movie. People saw the movie and they felt sympathetic toward him or not just sympathetic but they had a multitude of reactions and not just ‘He’s the worst guy in the universe’ kind of thing.’
‘His intention, if you think about, his intention was there is an overabundance of population and there are limited resources. So, what he’s doing is actually right, right?’
‘He could but he didn’t think of it at the moment because he’s too callous. The manifestation is callous.’
