One of our favorite things about the celebrities we admire is their willingness to dedicate themselves to causes much larger than themselves. When it comes to the cast of The Walking Dead, their kindness just about surpasses their talent.
So it comes as no surprise that Pollyanna McIntosh posted a selfie today with fellow Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan. The photo showed the two wearing matching hats and smiles.
The Jadis hat which fans can purchase, too, isn’t just a stylish accessory. It’s an opportunity to help bring assistance to those who are struggling with mental health issues. Pollyanna’s caption explains how purchasing the hat will benefit the Joshua Nolan Foundation.
Dear @LaurenCohan proudly wearing her #Jadis hat with me to help mental health charity @TheJNF If you’re part of #TheWalkingDeadFamily and want one too go to https://t.co/RYoaMVvKwW and get yours! Thanks! ❤️✌️🙌 #Maggie #TWD pic.twitter.com/jJzGZyZ4iO

The Joshua Nolan foundation was started by a woman who lost her son to suicide. In a statement on their website, she tells a bit about her story with Josh and what it was like to love someone struggling with mental health problems.
‘Like most teenagers, Josh had his struggles. He was dyslexic and found it hard to concentrate in class which therefor got him into trouble quite a lot. When his teenage years kicked in, he and his friends started experimenting with drugs and alcohol and this is when the real problems began. I felt completely helpless and watched him go down hill. Josh became unbearable to live with, which prompted him to decide to leave home and live in a homeless shelter.’
After the loss of her son, she had a hard time finding support for other people who lived through the same pain. She wanted to turn her son’s loss into something more.
