After Supergirl’s recent season 3 finale, it may not be a huge shock for fans to learn that Jeremy Jordan’s character Winn Schott will not be returning to season 4 as a series regular. He has been moved to a recurring guest star, but don’t worry folks, Jordan has offered plenty of reassurance that we haven’t seen the last of Winn and there is still so much story left to tell!
Having been a part of the Supergirl family since season 1, Jordan took to Instagram with a heartfelt letter to fans explaining that it was his decision to take a step back from the series so that he could focus on the next phase of his career and spend more time with his family.
“Although you may not see him putting around the DEO every week, I love everyone in National City too much to stay away forever. Winn WILL return in season 4,” Jordan promised. The season 3 finale sent Winn’s character to the future to stop a virus that Brainiac released that would kill all of the A.I.
“I’ve been searching for my calling. You know, this is it. I’m gonna save the future,” Winn told James (Mechad Brooks) in the episode.
While it is sad that everyone’s “favorite little cardigan-wearing Hobbit” won’t be gracing the screen every week, Winn fans will be pleased to know that Jordan won’t be going anywhere as he is diligently working on the next phase of his career. Perhaps he will be returning to Broadway?
Jordan’s recurring status isn’t the only change heading into season 4. Chris Wood, who has played Mon-El for the past two seasons, will no longer be a series regular and isn’t slated to return. Mon-El is also heading into the future with Winn’s character.
“The plan for Chris was always to have him on the show for two years. We’ve loved telling Mon-El’s story, as well as the story we’ve told for him and Kara. We hope the fans felt that it was a satisfying conclusion,” executive producer Robert Rovner told TVLine.
