‘Arrow’: Emily Bett Rickards on hopes for Felicity in Season 7

After the Arrow Season Six finale episode, fans of the hit CW series can expect some major challenges and changes in regards to the lives of some of our favorite heroes. Although the team may finally all be back together, they’re missing two key players – Oliver, who is currently imprisoned at a Federal Super Max facility and Quentin Lance, who passed away after being shot by Ricardo Diaz.

One series star who has some ideas in mind of where she would like to see her character go, is Emily Bett Rickards who plays Felicity Smoak-Queen on the show. After finally marrying Oliver, stepping into the role of step-mom and taking down (well sort of) Ricardo Diaz, Felicity has pretty much seen it all. One thing that fans of the pairing are hoping for is that Oliver and Felicity would have a baby themselves.

In an interview with TV Guide, Rickards discussed what she would and would not like to see Felicity take on – especially in regards to Oliver and Felicity having a baby:

“I don’t know if I would be interested in exploring that storyline right now with Felicity. I feel like she deserves a little something more than that, and I don’t want that to be taken the wrong way. I’d just be interested in seeing her, I don’t know, like, deal with a villain face-to-face for a consistent number of episodes?”

Rickards may be getting her wish. Now that Oliver is in prison, and Diaz is in the wind with his Longbow Hunters aiming to help him retake over Star City – the possibilities are endless. Someone is going to have to hold up the front in Star City, and keep it under protection. In the closing sequence of the finale, we saw that Diggle took home the Green Arrow suit that Oliver had made for him – custom.

Diaz won’t be in the wind for too long, and I expect him to come back with a rage like never before. After all, it was Oliver and Black Siren that delivered the final blows that sent him flying into the Star City river. Now that Lance has passed, Black Siren doesn’t have anyone left to lose – unless she and Sara develop some semblance of a relationship. Oliver, however, has everyone. Diaz will certainly have a rage in him that can’t be matched and the two people that Diggle and the rest of Team Arrow will for sure have to keep safe are Felicity and William, which Rickards herself even considered in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“We’ve seen how strong and intelligent and ferocious [Diaz] can be; I don’t think he stops. In terms of [Felicity] safe, we can do our best, but I don’t think she’s going to have much luck.”

Arrow will return on Mondays at 9PM/EST on The CW this fall.
