Throwback Thursday: ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’

I love waking up on a Thursday morning with the thought in my head of ‘after today, just one more day until the weekend!’. It is certainly quite a refreshing and motivational feeling. Also, every Thursday is pretty  much a ‘Throwback Thursday’ in my house. I’m still working on finding out where my mom keeps hiding all of these embarrassing kindergarten photos of me! Does anybody else have a mom who loves doing that?

At any rate, I am all about Horror Movies this week – mostly because the new Halloween trailer drops this week. I am beyond stoked. Thinking about that reminded me of throwback horror movies and I recently discovered that one I loved as a kid recently turned 30 years old: Killer Klowns from Outerspace.

Instead of being one of those kids that was terrified of clowns, I found myself laughing at how ridiculously silly and entertaining the movie was. Maybe it was because it was so corny, unlike the creepy clown doll from that movie The Poltergeist. A bunch of aliens that look like clowns? If only that was what aliens look like, if they actually do exist.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a 1988 American science fiction horror comedy film that was written, directed and produced by the Chiodo Brothers – their only film to be both written and directed as a matter of fact. The movie is about a small group of evil aliens from an unknown region, who all resemble circus clowns. They arrive on Earth and invade a small town in order to capture, and kill all the humans they can find. The film’s original title was simply Killer Klowns, but the filmmakers added the words “from Outer Space” to prevent audiences from assuming the film was a typical slasher movie.
