‘Star Wars’ Star Mark Hamill and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Director James Gunn Finally Meet!
When Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Star Wars star Mark Hamill met for a cup of coffee over the weekend, the internet erupted with sheer excitement!
Back in February of this year, a curious and hopeful fan tweeted both Gunn and Hamill with a minor request which may have planted a brilliant idea for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 film. The fan tweeted, “@JamesGunn, could you do me a huge favour and find a role for @HamillHimself in Guardians 3? The awesomeness of it might end me, but I’m willing to risk it. Thanks.”

What started with a simple tweet lead to both Gunn and Hamill responding to the fan and maybe, just maybe, an idea was put into motion because, this past weekend, the two finally got together for that cup of coffee.

Both Gunn and Hamill shared photos of their time together along with positive recounts of their visit. Gunn posted, “Finally stopped by @hamillhimself’s for that cup of coffee we tweeted about months ago. & some bbq. & cornbread & cobbler & OKAY IT’S TRUE I ATE THE HAMILLS OUT OF HOUSE & HOME BACK OFF. Honestly, he’s an amazing guy & I’m grateful to him & the whole Hamill clan for a great day.”

While Gunn’s tweet focused on the delicious food consumed, Hamill said the two have a ton in common and talked about everything. He tweeted, “Such a great day meeting my neighbor @JamesGunn! We have so much in common & talked about EVERYTHING: the weather, gardening tips, favorite recipes, growing up Catholic, our mutual love of dogs, bleu cheese, risqué limericks & the weather again.”

If they truly talked about “everything” then perhaps Gunn and Hamill also spoke about that possible cameo role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Could one fan’s innocent social media musing have sparked the most epic crossover cameo of all time?
Of course, we most likely won’t know anything for sure until Guardians of the Galaxy 3 hits theaters which won’t be for quite some time. Until then, we’ll just continue to create fan theories and watch in delight as Gunn and Hamill playfully tweet excitement into our little fandom hearts.
