These Heroes Will Play a Bigger Role in ‘Avengers 4’

This post contains spoilers from Avengers: Infinity War. We recommend you stop reading if you’ve yet to see the movie.

When fans saw trailers and tv spots for Avengers: Infinity War, a few things were evident. The film would be heartbreaking but incredible, we’d see a few heroes meet for the first time and it would be epic, and we’d see a recovering Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

Of course, Tony and Steve weren’t the only ones hurt after the events of Civil War, but they did have the heaviest burdens to bear. Their friendship was challenged in a massive way and even though Steve reached out to Tony at the end of the film, it wasn’t going to be an easy fix.

So we were excited to see what would come of them in Infinity War and while we did see a lot of Tony’s story, we didn’t see that much of Steve’s.

We saw him in some battle scenes, intense ones where he showed off a new side of himself, but they weren’t as in-depth as we were hoping. Having seen the film, we grew to understand why Steve was more scarce in this one. The story had to play out precisely the way that it did for the Avengers to have a fighting chance in the future. We had to see the struggles and triumphs of certain heroes and they helped pave the way for the next film.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely spoke about what brings audiences back and how Infinity War and Avengers 4 are different films. In that interview, they mentioned that two heroes will see more screen time in the next movie, and Steve is one of them.

‘We’re never writing without knowing where the end goes.’ In terms of Steve and Black Widow, ‘they have a much bigger role to play in that second film. We gave ourselves license to pay off later.’

We’re rooting for them to save the day, or ya know, all of the heroes that we lost when Thanos snapped.

You can see Avengers: Infinity War in theaters, now.
