Spoiler Alert! The following article contains spoilers from Avengers: Infinity War.
The last several minutes of Avengers: Infinity War left fans in complete and total shock as they watched many of their favorite characters mysteriously turn to dust and disappear right before their very eyes. While the true fate of those lost characters currently hangs in the balance, Black Panther fans can rest assured knowing that, at the very least, Wakanda would be left in good hands.
Black Panther star Letitia Wright was in attendance during MCM Comic-Con this past weekend in London where she participated in a panel and fan Q&A session. Wright, who plays Shuri in the Marvel Universe, was asked if she was prepared to step in as ruler of Wakanda now that Thanos has claimed (or at least temporarily claimed) the life of T’Challa.
Though Shuri’s fate is currently unknown, Wright answered with a simple and definite yes. She said, “To be comic book accurate, yes.”
As Wright mentions, in the Black Panther comic book storyline, Shuri does, in fact, eventually past the test to become the ruler of Wakanda. Will this happen in the MCU? The verdict is still out on that answer, however, thanks to Wright’s stand-out and scene-stealing performance, this just might be something that fans will get to see happen!
What do you think? Would you want to see Shuri take over as Black Panther and leader of Wakanda? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
