‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Sarah Drew Shares Emotional Instagram Tribute to Jesse Williams
If you haven’t seen Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, we recommend not reading any further. Spoilers for the episode follow.
Fans of Grey’s Anatomy were put through the ringer when Thursday night’s episode aired. In the week leading up to the episode, fans were led to believe that it was time to say a heart wrenching goodbye to April Kepner. There was a car accident, a lifeless April on a hospital bed, and a slew of crying doctors.
That, paired with the announcement that Sarah Drew’s time on Grey’s had come to a close, was a devastating mix. April grew to be a doctor that many fans loved and admired, even if she started her time on the series as a quirky ‘know it all’ type.
Her trials and tribulations turned her into a force to be reckoned with. From a hospital shooting to becoming a doctor in a war zone and a personal struggle with her faith; as a woman, she realized the depth of her own power.
While not defined by them, one of the most important relationships she had was with Dr. Jackson Avery. Jackson and April were one of our favorite couples in the series and even after their heartbreaking end, we still held hope for a future where the two of them found one another again.
While it wasn’t the version we thought we wanted, April and Jackson did come back to one another in Thursday’s episode. It was everything we didn’t know we needed.
If you haven’t seen the episode, we won’t try to describe the scene in too much detail. It wouldn’t do it justice. However, April didn’t succumb to her injuries, instead, she opened her eyes as Jackson prayed over her, pleading with God to let her live.
Sarah shared a personal look at this scene, and some other important moments with Jesse, on her Instagram page hours later.
You can see the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, May 17th.
