‘Star Wars’: Chewbacca Challenges You to Be Charitable and to #RoarForChange
May the 4th is upon us and you know what that means! It’s Star Wars day! As fans all around the world celebrate the Star Wars fandom, the folks over at Lucasfilm are celebrating big this year – Wookiee style! On Thursday, Lucasfilm and Star Wars: Force for Change officially announced this year’s charitable challenge – Roar For Change.
You’ve probably already heard of the Star Wars: Force for Change initiative. Just in case you haven’t, it’s a charitable initiative set forth by Disney and Lucasfilm in an effort to do as much good as humanly possible throughout the world. Force for Change encourages fans of the films to band together and, quite literally, become forces for change in their every day lives. This year, Roar For Change will be a global challenge in support of UNICEF.
The challenge is simple. All you have to do is show off your very best impression of Chewbacca’s iconic Wookiee roar. You can take a video of yourself, your friends, your family or basically anyone who’s willing to participate or get creative with Hasbro’s Electronic Chewbacca mask or Dubsmashes of Chewbacca’s best-known roars from the Star Wars saga, which will be hosted on the app’s homepage for the duration of the campaign.
Your posts must be public in order to count towards the cause! For each post, like or share across social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #RoarForChange, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million. Funds will be used to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world.

Paul Gainer, Head of Disney Consumer Products Commercialization kicked off this year’s challenge by saying the following in a press release:
The challenge is running from May 3rd through May 25th of this year, so you better get roaring! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #RoarForChange!
