Paramount Network Announces Series Order for ‘First Wives Club’ TV Reboot
Paramount Network announced on Thursday that it has officially picked up the television reboot of First Wives Club for a series order.
The comedy series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes. Much like the original 1996 film starring Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn, it will follow a group of women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood- and of course a little revenge. The script will be penned by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) who will also serve as executive producer.
In a press release from Paramount Network, President of Development and Production, Keith Cox said, “Tracy Oliver is a brilliant writer, and the perfect visionary to bring this unforgettable story from the big screen to the small screen in a fresh and contemporary way.”
President of Paramount TV, Amy Powell echoed Cox’s sentiments by adding, “‘Girls Trip’ was one of the funniest comedies in recent memory and we know Tracy will breathe new life, and some serious laughs, into these beloved ‘First Wives Club’ characters.”
The series will take place in New York City where production will begin this summer and casting announcements can be expected in the next few weeks. First Wives Club will premiere on Paramount Network in 2019
