Paul Bettany on ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Fake Scripts

With Avengers: Infinity War just under three weeks from its theater debut, fans are more excited than ever before to see the film. To be quite honest, we’re also more nervous than ever before. We don’t know what to expect from Infinity War. Not really.

We’re obviously aware that Thanos is on the hunt for the Infinity Stones. We also know that there’s a wake of death and destruction in his path. He’s evil, and while we’ve been promised that there’s some depth to his character, we can’t see it being enough to comfort us when all is said and done.

Fans aren’t the only ones who don’t know what to expect. In fact, almost everyone who filmed Infinity War was given a fake script.

Paul Bettany spoke about it during press for the UK screening of Infinity War last weekend.

‘The secrecy around this film extended, this time, to the cast. I mean, really, it was crazy. We read scripts that were fake scripts and then they had fake twists and scenes that never were shot and you’d talk to the director and they’d say ‘all of that stuff at the end? Not happening.’

It’s as surprising, but, at the same time, it’s not. The effort, time, and dedication put into this film go far beyond anything the MCU has done so far. Keeping it spoiler free is quite a task, especially with a film this big, so why not make sure everything is kept under wraps? Even if that means throwing them for a loop.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
