If you are already stoked for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which arrives in theaters in 20 days (not that we are counting or anything….) then I have some pretty exciting additional Marvel news for all of you! That’s right – Insomniac Games has really made every Spidey fans dreams come true.
Spider-Man will launch on Friday, September 7, 2018 and will be exclusively for the Playstation 4 system. Well, I guess I made an amazing decision buying that PS4 the other day! The company has spent years putting together this project and from all of the teasers, it is going to be pretty incredible. In addition to a sneak peek of clip footage and posters, Insomniac games also gave us a look as to what their cover art is going to look like. The pose on the cover takes inspiration from over 50 years of fan-favorite Spider-Man comic book art giving nods to the works of J. Scott Campbell, Mark Bagley, John Romita Sr., John Romita Jr., Joe Quesada and Steve Ditko.
When it becomes available in stores, it will run both in retail and digitally for $59.99. Also available will be both a deluxe and a collector’s edition of the game, which will include bonus content.
The Digital Deluxe edition of the game (which runs for $79.99) will include a copy of the game as well as new story chapters with our post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. The Collector’s Edition ($149.99) includes all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and an awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant.
All of that being said, be sure to check out this sneak peek video of the game below. I watched about 3 seconds of it and I automatically knew that this is going to be a game I am going to have to get my hands on. Well, the 7th iiiisss just before my birthday – the day before actually. Perhaps I can treat myself to a special birthday gift this year after all!
