Review: ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 4 Premiere is Unmissable

Fear The Walking Dead is set to premiere on April 15th, and fans of the show should be ramping up for this season. We had the awesome opportunity to view the first two episodes of the season and we can confidently say that you are going to be really happy with what AMC has done with it.

Here’s what we know from episodes 401 (What’s Your Story) and 402 (Another day in The Diamond):

There is a jump in time. (The exact details of that you’ll have to wait and see.)

Although we will leave out the specifics, we can tell you that Morgan Jones’ jump over into the world of Fear makes sense from both perspectives of Fear The Walking Dead as well as The Walking Dead fans.

Both episodes are extremely different, and so much of the action is spread out over both of them in order for the viewer to grasp how everything starts to connect.

The new characters are amazing.

The new characters we meet in the first episode of Fear‘s 4th season are truly awesome. Althea (Maggie Grace) and John (Garret Dillahunt) are amazing characters respectively. Going into this season, I didn’t have a favorite character on Fear. I had many on The Walking Dead, but with Fear I hadn’t found somebody who I was really rooting for or connected with. I can safely say that John is now my favorite, and he might even rival my favorites on The Walking Dead. He is a solid guy who is true to himself, and makes quite the entrance on the series. I am personally really excited to see where his character goes. Check out more about John in our interview with Garret Dillahunt!

Not only is John awesome, but Althea brings a great new attitude to the apocalypse-she makes quite the entrance as well, and everything that goes along with her  just makes her just about the coolest girl on the show. If you love female characters who kick-butt, she is going to be the one to watch. Naomi (Jenna Elfman) is another great new character. She and Althea are both pretty different, so it’s even hard to choose between the two.

The storylines are GOOD.

Everything connects and picks up where it should be almost effortlessly, and the details of how the new characters become incorporated is fascinating to watch. We see Madison, Nick, Alicia, Luciana, Victor, and the whole gang, and we see them at one point in what feels like a golden summer haze at the stadium, which gives a really nice break from what has seemed like constant turmoil on The Walking Dead and last season.

Morgan is the same Morgan.

While we can’t reveal too much about his situation, Morgan’s decisions on his travels and beyond, are exactly what you’d expect out of him. He stays completely true to the Morgan we know on The Walking Dead, which may be comforting. He makes a lot of decisions, and the viewer is allowed to be right there with him while he does it. He sort of picks the viewer up and transports them to where he’s going physically and emotionally.

The story takes off and holds its own, which is really great to watch.

If you watch The Walking Dead but haven’t gotten into Fear, now is the time to.

Not only is the fan-favorite Morgan going to be a main focal point, but there’s a chance that you may see things on Fear that answer a lot of questions for the world of The Walking Dead right now. I just don’t think you’ll want to miss it.

Check out the latest extended trailer to see everyone in action and be sure to tune into Fear The Walking Dead on April 15th at 10 PM ET on AMC.
