Happy Birthday, Scott Wilson!
The Walking Dead Alum, Scott Wilson turns 76 today! Scott played our beloved Hershel Greene from seasons 2-4.
Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1942, Scott has 50+ film credits to his name. He made his feature film debut in In the Heat of the Night (1967). Other notable films include: In Cold Blood, The Great Gatsby, Pearl Harbor, Dead Man Walking, Monster and The Ninth Configuration, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture in 1980.
In 2011, he was cast as veterinarian Hershel Greene, father to Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney). We first met Hershel in the hit AMC series’ second season. Carl gets shot by Otis while helping the group search for Sophia. Rick carries Carl to the Greene farm where Hershel was able to save him.
After losing his farm at the end of season two, Hershel and his daughter’s join Rick’s group and they eventually discover the prison and make it their home in season three. In season four, after several run-ins with the Governor in the previous season, Hershel is captured along with Michonne. We were very saddened at his death and departure from the series in the mid-season finale, “Too Far Gone”.
After The Walking Dead, Scott appeared in the film Hostiles and has had roles in television’s Bosch, Damien and The OA.
