‘Luke Cage’ Star Mike Colter Joins Chrissy Metz in ‘The Impossible’
Luke Cage star Mike Colter has joined the upcoming drama film from Fox 2000 The Impossible, Deadline announced on Thursday.
The film stars Chrissy Metz (This Is Us) as Joyce Smith, a woman whose 14-year-old son fell through the ice of a frozen lake in Missouri. Her son John was proclaimed lifeless for over an hour but Joyce never gave up hope. Through prayer and faith, she stayed by her son’s side until miraculously, his heart began beating again. The film is an adaptation based on Smith’s novel The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, which tells the incredible true story of the events that occurred that day.
Colter will be playing a character named Tommy Shine who, according to Deadline is, “a Firefighter who saves Joyce’s (Metz) son from the water after hearing a voice telling him where to look. Before John’s drowning, he didn’t believe in God. After watching John fight, he finds a reason to believe.”
Roxann Dawson (The Americans) is set to direct with the script being penned by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) and produced by DeVon Franklin (Miracles From Heaven).
