‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Trailer is Here!
Wands at the ready as Warner Bros. have released the first official trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the sequel to 2016’s Fantastic Beasts.
In the trailer, Jude Law makes his magical debut into the Wizarding World as a young Albus Dumbledore, while Eddie Redmayne returns to the franchise as magizoologist Newt Scamander. The narrative follows the assumption that Scamander is following orders from Dumbledore to travel to Paris to track down dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), who is believed to have escaped from prison following his big reveal in the first film.
“I can’t move against Grindelwald,” Dumbledore says to Scamander in the teaser trailer. “It has to be you.”

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
Crimes of Grindelwald marks David Yates fifth film in the world of wizardry. He has previously directed the last four Harry Potter films, in addition to the first Fantastic Beasts movie.
The upcoming film also sees the return of original Fantastic Beasts cast members, including Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie and Dan Fogler as no-maj Jacob. Ezra Miller will be reprising his role as Credence, following his unexpected exit from the first instalment.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrives in theatres November 16th.
