Costume Director for ‘Phantom Thread’ Wins Jet Ski at 2018 Oscars

Last night’s Academy Awards Ceremony showcased some of the best and brightest in the industry. From those behind the scenes to those on camera – storytellers were brought together to celebrate an industry that encourages us all to keep dreaming.

Winners took the stage to thank those around them while celebrating their success and the speeches are an important part of the evening. However, Jimmy Kimmel had a bit of a running joke to keep those speeches short and sweet.

Early in the night, Kimmel announced that the winner with the shortest speech would win a jet ski at the end of the night. Talk about some high stakes! To prove that he was serious about their timing on stage, Kimmel brought out a stopwatch proclaiming that he’d be keeping up.

Discussing the length of the already lengthy award show, he joked about the speeches that run a little long.

Why waste precious time thanking your mom when you could be taking her for the ride of her life on a brand new jet ski?

A true winner was crowned at the end of the show. Only instead of jewels, Mark Bridges got a lifejacket!

We have to say, an Academy Award and a jet ski in one night, Bridges’ is living the dream.
