Kristen Wiig in Early Talks to Play ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Villain Cheetah

The highly-anticipated Wonder Woman sequel may be starting to make some headway in its casting.

Earlier this week, rumors began to swirl that the iconic villain Cheetah would be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel film.  On Wednesday, Deadline exclusively reported that Saturday Night Live vet Kristen Wiig is reportedly in early talks for the role.

The sequel film will have Gal Gadot reprising her role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and director Patty Jenkins is returning as well.  Little else is currently known about the film through, even before signing her deal to direct, Jenkins said of the sequel,

“I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”

Playing the role of a super-villain would be new ground for Wiig.  In addition to her SNL days, she also earned an Oscar nomination for co-writing the comedy Bridesmaids and she also starred in the film.

Wonder Woman 2 is expected to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
