Live Action ‘Lion King’ Movie May Omit Infamous Song ‘Be Prepared’

It would appear as though one of The Lion King’s most beloved original songs may not be making it into the Jon Favreau’s upcoming Live Action version of Disney film.

In a recent interview with British Publication The Sun, John discussed some of the music that is going to be in the movie, when the film debuts in theaters:

“There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ ‘Hakuna Matata,’ ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,’ and ‘Circle of Life. And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something. That’s going out in 2019 as well. And it will be great to work with her. So we will see.”

If this is the case, that means ‘Be Prepared’ is going to be one of the few songs that we will keep locked away in our memories. The song, originally sung by Jeremy Iron’s Scar, has been a long time fan favorite.

Irons will not be returning to voice the villain in this film. Instead, Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor will be stepping in to fill those paws.

The Lion King, which stars Beyoncé, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, John Oliver and Ejiofor among many other talented actors, will be released in 2019.
