New Details on Disney Streaming Service: Marvel Staying on Netflix, and Possible ‘Lady and The Tramp’ Reboot

We are starting to get a clearer picture of what to expect from Disney’s new streaming service.

Deadline reported Thursday some new details about the service, including that the brainstorming meetings are being led by programming chief Agnes Chu. Chu comes from ABC’s creative content for digital platform department and she also worked for Bob Iger on several projects including franchise development at Walt Disney Engineering and the launch of the Shanghai Disney resort.

The platform, referred to as OTT, will be domestic and eventually move overseas. The programming will not include any R-Rated films-those will go on Hulu. As of right now, Marvel will also stay on Netflix-contrary to previous reports.

The most interesting part about this is that the goal is to during the first year generate several original movies and five original series to be aired exclusively on the service. Some of the newer ideas in motion are Don Quixote, The Paper Magician, Stargirl, Togo and a reboot of Lady and The Tramp.

Some projects are already in post-production are Magic Camp and Noelle which stars Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader and Shirley MacLaine.

Other films also taking priority, 3 Men and a Baby; Sword and the Stone; and Timmy Failure.  As far as series go, High School Musical, Monsters Inc, a new Marvel live-action, and Star Wars titles are all in motion.

No reports yet on how much the service will cost.

Are you excited to see what Disney has in store on the OTT platform? Will you be getting your eyes on it in Fall 2019?
