Sebastian Stan Talks Going Undercover in Upcoming Film ‘Destroyer’

When Sebastian Stan took the stage at Wizard World St. Louis is was to an excited audience with a lot of questions. While there were some stipulations – aka that whole don’t ask about the upcoming Avengers films – fans were free to ask just about anything else.

Questions ranged from warning labels for Bucky Barnes to what Marvel secret has been his hardest to keep, and even one about the film that was responsible for his new look that weekend. Fans first saw Sebastian’s new ‘do’ via Nicole Kidman’s Instagram profile and then on his own story in the greenroom, getting ready for a busy day of meet and greets, photo ops, and one of our favorite panels of all time.

While Sebastian couldn’t give much away about his character in Destroyer, he did say that it was a role he really enjoyed taking on. He felt like he was playing two parts and he said it was very much like that for everyone who did undercover work, both on and off screen.

It was almost like playing two parts and that’s what was fascinating to me about anyone that does undercover work because they’ve actually got to be actors in a way. There’s no real training for someone to become undercover, I mean they have certain classes and stuff but it’s all life experience so in a way it was preparing for the guy and then it was him preparing to be undercover as another character so it was kind of playing two people.

He went on to say that he met an FBI agent in New York who was on a series, Inside the FBI in New York, that gave him some tips for his upcoming part in Destroyer.

Sebastian stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Tatiana Maslany and the premise of the film, so far, is as follows.

‘LAPD detective Erin Bell, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.’

You can get your Sebastian Stan fix while waiting on Destroyer in theaters by checking out I, Tonya now and Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th.
