Serkis was big player in fan culture in 2017. He portrayed Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and in War for the Planet of the Apes, he ended the reign of Caesar the chimpanzee with praise and ratings that were off the charts. (It was really good-a must see.)

Serkis didn’t only play a big part last year, though. He’s been in around 100 films and series and has been nominated for many of his roles. He played Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films and can be seen in Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther.
Along with acting, Serkis made his directorial debut in 2017 with Breathe which starred Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield and Mowgli, a spinoff of The Jungle Book starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch soon to be released.

ICG president Steven Poster said in a statement,

“Andy Serkis, with his unparalleled flexibility and understanding of movement, has made motion capture his own. We are delighted that he will be flying in from England to be with us,”

The awards luncheon will take place on March 2nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Betty White will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award there.
