‘The Walking Dead’ Stuntman John Bernecker Among Those Honored in SAG Awards ‘In Memoriam Tribute’

During 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards which aired on Sunday night, the presentation of awards and accolades took a brief pause to remember those members of the SAG-AFTRA which we have lost over the past year.

Felicity Huffman introduced the tribute reel first by saying, “Tonight as we recognize the performances of our peers, we also celebrate some dear friends whose contributions to our art form are everlasting. Though no longer with us, their work will continue to captivate audiences around the world and to bring eternal honor to our profession.”

Among those honored was The Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker who tragically lost his life while rehearsing a stunt for the series.  Bernecker died last year after losing his footing during a standard fight scene and falling over 30 feet.

In addition to Bernecker, the evening paid tribute to many beloved late stars such as David Cassidy, Dick Gregory, Glenne Headly, John Heard, John Hurt, Martin Landau, Jerry Lewis, Erin Moran, Bill Paxton, Adam West, Don Rickles, Harry Dean Stanton and more
