In addition to Alicia Silverstone and Hailee Steinfield, you can add Lindsay Lohan to the list of stars who are looking to play the heroic character of Batgirl in Joss Whedon’s in-development Batgirl movie for DC Films.
The Mean Girls star took to Twitter earlier this morning, asking fans to retweet her message and to tag Joss Whedon in their posts.
So far, there have been no casting updates nor any details released in regards to the upcoming DC film.
Joss Whedon was brought on by DC and Warner Bros. to direct the Batgirl film early last year, but his focus shifted when he was asked to complete Zack Snyder’s work on The Justice League.
For quite some time, fans feared that Whedon would be abandoning the project due to filming and negative script reviews, EW reported in November that sources close to the film’s production state that the project is still being worked on and a script is in the works.
In addition to writing the character, which knowing Whedon’s work will follow closely to the comics, he also talked about his vision for casting the titular heroine.
“I’m creating this character. I’m in a dialogue with her. We’ll see who joins that later on… I think this is somewhere you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her… I’m not against movie stars. They’re great, but you need somebody who’s going to be just right. And, in a situation like this, the name carries a lot of weight.” Whedon said.
