Throwback Thursday: Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You” Single

Justin Timberlake is on the verge of releasing a new song from his fourth solo studio album, Man of the Woods.

For today’s Throwback Thursday, we take a look back at his first solo single, “Like I Love You,” which was released in October 2002. The lead single from his first solo album, Justified, had big shoes to fill. ‘NSYNC was a group that was at the top of the charts, and their popularity was insane. Many fans wondered how Timberlake would fair with his separation from the popular boy band and if he would be able to transition into a successful solo career.

The sound and even the video for the single had us comparing him a bit to the late Michael Jackson.  However, the tune was catchy and received positive reviews. The song peaked on the Billboard Top 100 at number 11 and stayed on the chart for a total of 36 weeks. Timberlake also performed the single at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.

The song solidified that Timberlake’s venture as a solo artist could do no wrong and fans haven’t looked back! Check out the video for “Like I Love You” below.

The lead single off Man of the Woods is titled “Filthy” and is set to release at midnight on Friday, January 5. Timberlake recently tweeted a teaser to fans.

It’s been a long wait, and we can’t wait to hear the new single and album!
