Bucky Barnes is (Probably) Getting an Upgrade in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

There are some things about Avengers: Infinity War that can be understood as fact. First, it’s going to be the biggest battle we’ve seen of the MCU at this point. Second, we’re going to see heroes we’ve never seen together form a bond to defeat an evil like they’ve never encountered. Third, we’re going to see Bucky Barnes back in action which means seeing him very differently than the last time he graced our screens.

Bucky was sent back into a cryogenic freeze at the end of Captain America: Civil War because he felt that he was a danger to the world. While the root of the battle in Civil War goes far beyond Steve’s loyalty to Bucky, it was a true realization of the pain he can cause when someone triggers him with the words that turn him into a lethal machine.

Lucky for Bucky (see what we did there), he goes into cryogenic freeze in Wakanda with none other than T’Challa who understands that Bucky wasn’t the evil he was first led to believe he was.

As the scene ended, Steve Rogers told T’Challa that if they found out Bucky was there, they’d come for him. His response? Simply – let them try.

Now, back to that, different version of Bucky thing. When we last saw him he was without his metal arm, having lost it in the battle between himself, Captain America, and Iron Man. With Thanos unleashing his dark power upon the Avengers, Bucky is going to have to be in peak physical condition.

So what better place for him to have a new arm created than in Wakanda where Vibranium is stored. That’s right, the same thing that Captain America’s shield is formed from. Talk about the perfect place at the perfect time. While no one is saying the word, Anthony Russo did say that if there’s an influence on his arm it may very well have to do with Wakanda.

For everyone who’s seen Captain America: Civil War, they know Bucky was taken in by T’Challa in Wakanda. I think that, you know, we catch back up with him after he’s been there for a while, and if there’s an influence on his arm, it may perhaps have to do with that country that he’s been spending time in.

We have to say, we’re here for a Vibranium arm.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4th.
