Mariah Carey is Returning as Headliner on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

Despite the events of last years live New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast, superstar Mariah Carey is ready to make her triumphant return to the production as the evening’s headliner.

Last year, Carey was a part of the evening’s festivities, however, when it came time for her big performance, technical issues plagued her entire set.  Unable to hear her track and background music, she ended up not singing throughout her performance and walked through most of her choreography.

After the mishap took place, Carey’s reps claimed technical issues while series producers responded saying those claims were absurd and unfounded.  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Carey herself revealed that she was mortified by the event which led to her taking a break from her social media accounts.

Carey and Dick Clark Productions are excited and ready to ring in 2018 by putting the mishap to rest.  In a joint statement, they said:

“We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on.”

This will be Carey’s third time appearing on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and she is in great company.  She will be joined by other talented musicians such as Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas, and Sugarland throughout the evening hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve will air Sunday night, December 31st, beginning at 8 PM on ABC.
