The Pull List- Star Wars Goes Rogue One, Mister Miracle’s Last Day On Earth, & Cable Dies (?!)

Geeklings, a very Happy New Comic Book Day to you all. Did you miss me? I was on vacation last week and didn’t return in time to do a Pull List column and for that I’m sorry. I’m sure most of you filled the void with the newest episode of my We Speak Geek podcast, right? Of course, you did cause you guys are the best! Hopefully, you guys didn’t miss out on last week’s awesome books though. In case you’re still kind of floating in limbo wondering what you should have read last week, allow me to help you real quick. Batman #36. Read that. Read it again. Find me on Twitter (@iamgeek32) and talk to me about how awesome it is. You won’t regret it.

Enough about last week though. We’ve got to live in the present and in this present, I am here for our regularly scheduled Wednesday appointment. You guys didn’t think I would actually miss two Pull Lists in a row, did you? Never in life. Because Geeklings, what’s the purpose of a week without Wednesday? Without Wednesday when would we get new comics? Tuesday? Thursday? No, those seem unnatural to me. Wednesday is our day and you’re all here to celebrate it with me. Was this a bit dramatic? Sure. Do you mind? Not at all.

Let’s talk some books!

The Pull List- Star Wars Goes Rogue One, Mister Miracle's Last Day On Earth, & Cable Dies (?!)

1. Star Wars #40– You guys might have heard but there’s a little film coming out this Friday called The Last Jedi. I know, it kind of just came out of nowhere, right?. If you’re anything like me then this week has been nothing but Star Wars at all times. Well, Marvel is here to help continue that trend with a brand new issue of their ongoing Star Wars series. If you’re not reading these comics then you’re doing yourself a disservice. Go back and start reading the trades immediately (you can find them super cheap on Amazon if you go digital) as they fill all your Star Wars needs. Issue 40 continues the story that seeks Luke and company on Jedha, the planet that got attacked by the Death Star in Rogue One, and brings in some characters introduced during the Darth Vader solo series. Read this and get ready for The Last Jedi.

2. Mister Miracle #5– Mister Miracle could very well be on the top of a number of peoples best comics of the year list, it’s up there for me, and it’s not without just cause. Tom King is writing a brilliant series here that is unlike anything else that DC is currently putting out. It’s unique and different and refreshing and feels like something special. Isn’t that what we want from our stories? Those feelings of importance? Issue looks to pick up with Mister Miracle’s last day on Earth, before his execution, and a date with Big Barda. I’m sure nothing could possibly go wrong. Nothing like… maybe Darkseid. This is a must read and my favorite cover of the week. Gorgeous stuff.

3. The Despicable Deadpool #290– Cable dies in this issue. Seems pretty self-explanatory. If this cover is to be believed it seems that Deadpool is going to take out his longtime running mate, but it’s also a Deadpool book sooooooo I’m sure there’ll be some sort of twist. Something involving Cable going back in time or something. Should be all types of fun.

4. The Wicked & The Divine Christmas Annual #1– During The Wicked & The Divine’s long acclaimed run fans have been asking for a look back on some of the gods early times. Well, this Christmas Annual looks to provide a look at some of those early times in an issue which seems to be made specifically to make the fans happy. That’s pretty swell.

5. All New Wolverine #28- Tom Taylor has promised that this issue is a huge one. Tons of shocking moments and Gabby finally gets a code name. What more could you want?
