Fantastic Beasts Sequel: New image Shows Newt Scamander entering a dark place
Wizarding world fans, you are in for a treat. Not one, but two new images from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald have been released.
The first photo, released exclusively by EW, shows Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) looking rather lost in the sewers. While it is unclear as to why he is exploring the waste systems, it’s easy to presume his hunt to find dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has something to do with it. Let’s just hope Newt doesn’t come across IT down there.

EW also included a behind-the-scenes shot of Redmayne enjoying a conversation with Jude Law, who will portray a younger version of Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel. Both looking dapper in their character’s costume.
As the newly revealed title implies, the sequel will enter a darker territory than the first film, delving deeper into the mysterious crimes of Grindelwald – the new Voldemort in the world of magic.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
Returning to the franchise are actors Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler and Ezra Miller. Joining them are Zoe Kravitz and Callum Turner will make their debut in the Potter prequel series as Leta Lestrange and Newt’s brother Theseus Scamander.
