Patty Jenkins Speaks on False Assumptions Surrounding ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel

Since Wonder Woman hit theaters, fans have been looking forward to the sequel. The film is hailed as one of the best in comic book history and Gal Gadot and the fierce women on screen brought a lasting power to audiences around the world.

The team surrounding the movie was just as powerful and supportive of showcasing strong women. Director, Patty Jenkins helped create an incredible story for women of all ages to find inspiration in.

So it comes as no surprise that fans are anxiously awaiting news on the sequel and that they’re trying to find out what’s next for Wonder Woman.

However; a statement made by Patty Jenkins was taken out of context recently and she brought that up in a Tweet with a highlighted article. She said she doesn’t blame the publication or the writer, but she wanted to set the record straight – at least as much as she could at the moment.

The assumption came after she gave a quote about the next film and how excited she was. Specifically this part.

It’s really still going to other values of hers, and a similar formula insofar as making a great, enjoyable fun movie but that ultimately in its third act turns some very big issues, and a very big experience that will aim to have slightly more weight and profundity than it has to have, because that’s a formula that I really like, and I like the idea of taking somebody on a very solid, great journey but that arrives at a bigger question being answered. So it’s like that but because she is Wonder Woman and she’s here now and she’s fully developed. It’s got great fun from the start and great big superhero presence from the start and is funny and a great love story again and a couple new unbelievable characters who I’m so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie.

So maybe the love story won’t be with Wonder Woman, or maybe the general film will be a love story, but not a romantic one. No matter what happens, we trust Jenkins and her vision and we can’t wait to see Wonder Woman’s next film.
