Happy Birthday, Nestor Carbonell!

Bates Motel’s very own Nestor Carbonell who portrayed Sheriff Alex Romero celebrates the big 5-0 today!

Nestor Gastón Carbonell is a New York native born in 1967. He is an accomplished actor, screenwriter and director. He also is a Harvard University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

He began his acting career as a guest star on the daytime soap As the World Turns. Early in his career, he made appearances in A Different World, The John Larroquette Show, Melrose Place and Law & Order. He later would become a cast regular on the sitcom Suddenly Susan along with Brooke Shields. Other early works include Strong Medicine, Cold Case, Scrubs, House and Monk. He was cast in the third season of Lost portraying Richard Alpert in the ABC drama.

Happy Birthday, Nestor Carbonell!

He landed the role of Mayor Anthony Garcia in The Dark Knight in 2008. He later returned in the final film of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, to shortly reprise his role.

Beginning in 2013 to the series finale earlier this year, Nestor played Sheriff Alex Romero in A&E’s Bates Motel. He starred alongside Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga and Max Thieriot. He directed 3 episodes of the series as well as a recent episode of the new ABC drama The Good Doctor which stars his former castmate, Freddie Highmore.

On January 3, 2001, Nestor married Shannon Kenny, an Australian actress who co-starred with him in the film Attention Shoppers which Nestor wrote. The couple has 2 boys together, Rafael and Marco.
