Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon to Headline New Apple TV Series

Looks like Apple is stepping up their streaming game and taking names – big names. Apple confirmed on Wednesday that they have ordered two seasons of a new drama starring two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

The series, which has yet to be named, will follow the lives of people who work in the morning talk show world and the different and unique challenges they face in the industry. In addition to starring in the show, Witherspoon and Aniston will executive produce and co-own the series alongside HBO alum Michael Ellenberg.

The series marks a huge return to TV for Aniston who has not had a starring role on the small screen since her 10-season run as Rachel Green on Friends. In that same realm, Friends originally put Witherspoon and Aniston on screen together when Witherspoon guest starred as Rachel’s sister Jill in two episodes.

The new series will further cement Witherspoon’s foot in the television world as her most recent series Big Little Lies was a huge success walking away with 5 Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Limited Series. While Reese did not win for her role as Madeline Martha Mackenzie, her co-star Nicole Kidman did for her haunting portrayal of Celeste Wright.

The acquisition of this show marks a huge win for Apple who has just begun trying to get their feet wet in the streaming game. Most recently they housed Late Late host James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke series and recently announced an Amazing Stories series from Steven Spielberg, which will take audiences into the worlds of wonder through the lenses of today’s most imaginative filmmakers, directors, and writers.

A drama series about morning talk shows seems like a great concept for these two so hopefully, Apple will be able to deliver the show to the audiences that other streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu are able to reach.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn't be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own "Pepperwood Chronicles'.
