‘The Flash’ Recap ‘Girls Night Out’

The Flash Recap ‘Girls Night Out’

It’s time for the bachelorette/bachelor party and both Iris and Barry have a nice quiet evening with their friends planned. But naturally, everything goes downhill very quickly.

Iris, Caitlin, Felicity, and Cecile go out to a fancy restaurant and are enjoying a fancy dinner when they are interrupted by Norvok, Caitlin’s not so friendly friend from the season premiere. He says he has come for Caitlin and isn’t leaving without her. He then pops his eye out and a tentacle thing comes out. The ladies fight back, Felicity smacking him with a chair, Iris a server’s tray, but they can do nothing to deter him. That’s when Caitlin goes full Killer Frost and blasts him away.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Killer Frost tells them what she had been doing during her time away from the team. The cure that Cisco designed didn’t work, so Caitlin joined up with Amunet, who promised a serum that would allow Caitlin to remain in control. Her payment for the serum was to be Amunet’s bodyguard. Amunet doesn’t take kindly to people leaving her service, and Killer Frost calls Caitlin out for planning to run. She then tells the others that she is going to go confront Amunet, refusing their offer to help.

Killer Frost shows up at Amunet’s club where she learns that one of the metahumans Team Flash created has been captured by her. His tears are a drug with an incredible rush and Amunet plans to mass-market it and make millions. She offers Killer Frost a chance to come back. Amunet’s going to need a bodyguard more than ever once the drug hits the street. Killer Frost refuses. Amunet apologizes for having to kill her #1 henchman. She can control metal and is about to strike Killer Frost down when Iris interferes. They escape the club.

Meanwhile, the boys are having a quiet evening drinking fine scotch and watching old home videos of Barry and Iris. But that’s when Ralph crashes the party and declares that they need to actually go out. He knows just the place. The boys arrive at the Golden Booty, a strip club that Ralph frequents. Barry laments the fact that he can’t party like the others, but Cisco offers him a special drink that he concocted that’ll guarantee a buzz. Unfortunately, it’s more than just a buzz and Barry is completely wasted. The night gets even worse when one of the dancers turns out to be Cecile’s daughter.

Joe and Joanie talk about why she’s dancing, Joanie explaining it’s for a book on feminism. She feels that a woman can feel beautiful no matter what she is wearing. Joe knows that he can’t parent Joanie but wishes that she would tell Cecile the truth of what she’s been doing.

Eventually, Ralph gets into a fight, which lands him, Barry, Joe, and Cisco in prison. As Barry throws up all the booze in his system, Joe tells him that he’s terrified of being a father again. He was young the first time around and he thinks his age will impact his ability to be a parent. Barry tells him that he’s going to be a great father, and that he and Iris will be there to help him. The boys are later bailed out by Harry.

Killer Frost tells the girls that Amunet won’t stop until she’s dead, so she’s going to catch a breach to a different world. However, Amunet suspected this might be her play. They fight, but Amunet is incredibly powerful. She manages to wound Killer Frost, which forces her to revert back to Caitlin. The police show up and while Amunet is distracted, Caitlin flees.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Iris treats Caitlin’s wounds. Caitlin apologizes for anything Killer Frost may have said. She says that she is completely locked out whenever she gets frosty. Iris says that they are her friends and she wishes Caitlin had said something. Caitlin corrects her by saying they are just work friends. She and Iris never really hang out outside of S.T.A.R. Labs. Felicity comes in and says they’ve tracked down Amunet’s location. They are going to stop her from making the sale and save the metahuman. Caitlin tells them she can’t join them. She doesn’t want to lose control again.

Iris and Felicity have some guns from the lab and are going to confront Amunet when some guards catch them by surprise. Amunet recognizes Iris from the club and it going to kill them when Caitlin shows up. She turns into Killer Frost and protects Iris and Felicity with a giant ice shield, but it won’t hold for long. Outside the building, Cecile is patched into the computer system. Felicity instructs her to turn on one of the large magnets because it will render Amunet powerless. Cecile manages to do so and all the metal shoots away from Amunet. Killer Frost then steps forward, prepared to kill her. Iris stops her, saying that she has to make the choice to be good. If she becomes a killer, she will never be free again. Killer Frost lets Amunet live. Amunet tells Killer Frost that she’ll be back someday to ruin her life. They release the metahuman and go home.

Both parties are over and play it off as having a quiet-ish evening. The boys enter S.T.A.R. Labs and find Killer Frost. She changes back into Caitlin and tells them the truth of what happened to her over the summer. Joe and Cecile have a heart to heart, both admitting that they’re terrified to be parents. But they know that with each other, and the kids, they’ll be able alright. Iris and Caitlin are leaving the building when Iris asks her to be her maid of honor. Caitlin accepts, saying that they are more than just work friends. They’ve been through quite a lot together. They also agree to hang out more outside of the lab.

The final scene of the episode is the metahuman running through the streets when he’s suddenly attacked by the Thinker in his chair that can act as a hovercraft. Thinker says he worked too hard to create him to just let him run away.

It was good to finally learn what Caitlin had been up to over the summer and I like that Killer Frost has certainly warmed up a bit since she joined forces with Savitar. My hope is that Killer Frost will become a more permanent member of the team. Her powers would certainly come in handy.

The new metahuman is interesting, but I have no idea how he’s going to fit into Thinker’s plan. It was also nice (but also not good news) to see that Thinker can actually get out of his lair. He has to remain in his chair, but he is mobile.

Next week’s episode is entitled ‘When Harry Met Harry…’
