Jeffrey Dean Morgan Speaks up About Ben Affleck’s Apology to Wife Hilarie Burton

When the stories of sexual harassment at the hands of Harvey Weinstein began to break just over a week ago, it opened the floor for important conversation. Sexual assault has been a topic that existed just under the surface in Hollywood and now the surface has been broken.

There’s no more hiding behind the guise of it being ‘part of the road to the top’ and no more excuse for the sense of entitlement that leads to that behavior. It’s not just Weinstein that’s involved either, women are coming forward about being harassed at the hands of other people in the business.

When Ben Affleck recently spoke out against Weinstein, a Twitter user mentioned that he was guilty of harassment. She recalled a time that he inappropriately touched Hilarie Burton years ago that the user thought ‘most people had forgotten’. Hilarie simply said that she hadn’t forgotten.

Affleck made an apology online and while Hilarie hasn’t responded, Jeffrey Dean Morgan did say something about it when it was brought up in an interview recently.

In a statement given to Entertainment Tonight, Jeffrey said that he doesn’t want to make a big deal out of the situation because she didn’t. He also said that those who have spoken about sexual harassment and even those who haven’t are incredibly brave.

I don’t want to make a big deal of it because she didn’t, but I think everything that’s come out in the last couple of weeks, starting with Harvey Weinstein — anybody who has talked about it and even those who haven’t yet are incredibly brave and I think it’s time for change. Hopefully all this stuff is going to change the business. It’s prevalent all over and I’m proud of all these women. All women and my wife.

He went on to speak about how strong Hilarie is, and how she inspires him to be a better man just by the way she lives her life. They’re one of those couples that you sort of hope you end up as half of one day.

She is the most amazing person I’ve ever met. You said, she’s a bit of a role model for you — she is for me as well. There’s no one stronger than her. How she’s able to balance all the things that she balances and be a strong voice for good is amazing and I just couldn’t be more proud. Every single day she does something that amazes me. She has made me such a better person, so I’m a lucky dude.

If you ask us, we’d say they’re both pretty lucky.
