He’s BACK! It’s been confirmed by Deadline that Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning to Netflix’s Daredevil during its upcoming third season. Just over a year ago, D’Onofrio teased fans regarding his return via Twitter, however, it looks like the Kingpin will return. D’Onofrio updated his cover image on Twitter with the following photo:
In the first season of the series, D’Onofrio played the main villain, a mob boss by the name of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk. His character was captured and put in jail, however, he reemerged in season 2 as well. Frank Castle (aka. The Punisher played by Jon Bernthal) was sent to prison which just so happened to be the same facility in which Fisk was incarcerated.
Fans of the series figured that it was only a matter of time before the Kingpin sprung back into action and, his appearance in season 2 certainly set the stage for this to happen.
In addition to announcing D’Onofrio’s return, EP and Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb also announced a new showrunner for the series. Loeb said:
“Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk. We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.”
At this point, little else is known about Kingpin’s return. We will all have to wait and see what happens in the next season. At this time, Daredevil does not currently have a release date planned for season 3, however, we will keep you updated with the latest news as it becomes available.
