Nielsen Social Ratings: September 25 – October 1

Welcome to another week of Nielsen Social Ratings!

The top 10 chart will look a little different, with Nielsen adding uniques from specific social media sites, Facebook and Twitter (more on uniques below). So, let’s dive in.

With Fall TV starting up, there were quite a few big premieres that made the top 10. Topping the charts this week was This Is Us, with their second season premiere. The emotional first hour of the season got them 1.5 million interactions. Will & Grace‘s return to television earned the show the number two spot and 1.3 million interactions.

Elsewhere, Empire took the number three spot with 1.192 million interactions while Grey’s Anatomy took the number four spot with 880,000 interactions.

The only new show to take a spot on the top 10 was ABC’s The Good Doctor, which came in at number eight. The medical drama just recently earned a full season pick up by the network.

As a refresher: the Content Ratings use the total number of social interactions across Facebook and Twitter to rank the top 10 series/specials and sporting events, separately. The chart includes uniques, which are “unique social media accounts that have authored original content related to a linear TV episode or engaged with that content,” and interactions, which are “original social media posts related to a linear TV episode and the engagement with that content.”
