Celine Dion Donates Concert Proceeds to Victims of Las Vegas
In the aftermath of tragedy, many celebrities are stepping up to help, including Celine Dion, who lives in Las Vegas.
Celine Dion took the stage at her first show following Sunday’s events and started out with a solemn speech.
I hope that you’re doing okay. Before we start the show. I need to talk to you for a minute. I never start a show like this. Standing in front of the curtain just talking. But tonight is very different.
She stood still and emotional in front of her packed house.
After Sunday night’s tragic event, all of us here have ourselves asking similar questions. For you, it’s, “Do we still go to Celine’s show on Tuesday night, only two days after the nightmare? For me, it’s, “Can I still do my show? Should I still do my show, only two days after the nightmare?”
Celine has been performing at her residency at Caesar’s Palace for 7 years and has since made Las Vegas her family’s home. At the end of her speech she informed her audience that all of the proceeds from that show would be donated to the families of the victims of Sunday’s shooting.
Celine has an enormous fan-base, including yes, yours truly. I actually attended her revamped Vegas show in 2011 when it kicked off. It’s a gorgeous show, complete with a 50 piece orchestra and the prettiest lighting and gowns you’d ever want to see.
Take a look at her speech below.
