1. He CAN Talk

Just because he never utters a single syllable throughout the entire franchise doesn’t mean he can’t talk. He just simply elects not to. Before Michael killed his sister at age 6, there was no evidence of him being mute.  In a 1979 novelization of Halloween, Dr. Loomis spoke with a colleague at the Sanitarium stating This catatonia is a conscious act. There is an instinctive force within him. He’s waiting.’ Well, I sure would love to hear what Michael has to say.

2.  He Wears A $1.98 Captain Kirk Mask

John Carpenter asked his production designer to design a plain mask for the killer that didn’t draw attention to itself. The script specified the “neutral features of a man” while the dialogue famously referred to a “pale, blank, emotionless face”. That being said, the designer purchased a 1975 Captain Kirk mask for $1.98. He then changed the hair, opened the eye sockets, yanked off the sideburns and spray painted the face white. “It was horrifying,” Tommy Lee Wallace said. “It was so scary that we immediately knew that our movie was going to work.”

3. Adult Myers was played by 3 Different People in Halloween (1978)

Michael was primarily played by actor Nick Castle, who was John Carpenter’s friend from USC film school. He was also played by production designer Tommy Lee Wallace. When Myers is unmasked at the end of the film, he is played by actor Tony Moran who would go on to appear in guest spots on TV shows like The Waltons and CHiPS. Moran was paid a mere $250 for a day’s work and a single shot in Halloween. Where do I sign up for this!?

4. He is known as ‘The Shape’ in the Film, Not ‘Michael’

In the original film, Michael Myers is officially credited as “The Shape,” and is never referred to as Michael Myers anywhere in the entire movie. The only time his name is truly spoken is at the beginning of the movie when his father discovers he has killed his sister and asks, “Michael!?”

5. He’s Not Supernatural… Just Impossible to Defeat

Jason is a supernatural-powered strong guy, Freddy is a dream demon and even Chucky became a doll through voodoo magic. Michael, however, is completely original. He doesn’t possess any supernatural ability at all – he’s just a psychopath who is nearly impossible to kill.

6. He’s appeared in two Video Games

Michael Myers has appeared in two fully licenced video games, first appearing in the 2013 game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. ‘The shape’ appeared as a playable reward for an exclusive DLC map called ‘Fog’. When a player becomes Michael Myers, they wield an axe which they can use to kill enemy players and “harvest” their souls, while his theme song plays in the background.  He appeared next in the 2016 survival horror game ‘Dead by Daylight’, as a DLC villain, in which he comes with special ability befitting his character. Michael can “stalk” his victims, becoming more powerful over time, with a rare ability to kill victims with one hit. Once again, his theme song come into play as he chases victims, really immersing the player in the moment.
