WATCH: Sonequa Martin-Green Discusses Playing First Officer Michael Burnham on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’
Starting Sunday night, Sonequa Martin-Green steps out of the zombie apocalypse and into interstellar space! Martin-Green is starring in CBS’s newest series Star Trek: Discovery as First Officer Michael Burnham however, immediately her character is faced with conflict.
In a new featurette on the series, Martin-Green and executive producers Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts discuss how First Officer Burnham is a woman of two worlds. Burnham is of human descent, however, after her parents were killed by Klingons, she was raised by Vulcan Ambassador Sarek (aka. Spock’s father). The Vulcan influences in her upbringing mixed with her natural human emotions give her a unique outlook on the universe.
Her background certainly is intriguing and Martin-Green takes great pride in this role and in the Star Trek: Discovery series. We can’t wait to see what Star Trek: Discovery has in store for fans!
