Preview: ‘American Horror Story: Cult’ Season 7 Episode 1 “Election Night”

American Horror Story comes back to FX tonight with the season premiere and it is bound to stir up controversy (more than usual) with season 7’s theme “Cult”. As in true AHS fashion, the season will revolve around one particular idea, but will most reach out into other societal branches including, but not limited to: elections, psychopaths and clowns. That’s quiet a combo, even for Mr. Murphy.

Ryan Murphy and the gang over at FX have already released some character portraits and their trademark teasers, in addition to a full-length trailer that shows the cast much different than we’ve seen them before. New additions this year include Allison Pill, Billy Eichner, Billie Lourd and Lena Dunham.

Even though the recent presidential election seems to be a catalyst for the season, what we will really be seeing is how this election makes its way through the public and their reactions to each other, reacting to it.

But again per Murphy, “It’s not about Trump and Clinton (this season). It’s about somebody who put their finger up to the wind and rose up in power and used people’s vulnerabilities, and they feel the world is on fire.”

Via Hidden Remote’s advance episode preview, here is what we can expect from the season premiere:

In “Election Night,” we meet Ally (Sarah Paulson), her wife Ivy (Alison Pill), and their son Oz (Cooper Dodson). The first episode of American Horror Story: Cult will also introduce Evan Peters’ Kai Anderson and Winter Anderson (Billie Lourd). These five characters, along with Cheyenne Jackson’s Dr. Rudy Vincent, will kick off the story.

P.S. Did I mention… clowns? Yeah, I’ll be sleeping with the lights on tonight.
