The ‘Hamilton’ Cast Recording Just Outsold ‘Rent’ and Lin-Manuel Miranda Had the Best Response
His name is Alexander Hamilton and he just broke a huge record for Broadway! After spending nearly two years on the charts, the original cast recording of Hamilton has officially surpassed the iconic Rent in sales. After its 100th week on the Billboard 200, they finally topped 1.285 million in sales, which puts them just barely ahead of Rent’s 1.284 million. This feat also places Hamilton at sixth on the all-time list of cast recordings, joining the ranks of Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables and Jersey Boys.
So, naturally the show’s creator and almost EGOT winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda had some fun celebrating.
Okay I’ll take some questions
but only answer in Rent quotes? Go!— Lin-Manuel Miranda (@Lin_Manuel) August 31, 2017
He decided to take fan questions, but he would only respond in Rent lyrics and the results were perfect.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
