Pennywise’s Red Balloon Appears in the Window of Stephen King’s Maine Home

There’s only one week left until the new reboot of It hits theaters and, that premiere date can’t come quickly enough!  There are some seriously creepy things happening as the film’s release date approaches.  In fact, this week, local news outlets in Bangor, Maine, Stephen King’s home town, have been reporting on one super creepy occurrence that has everyone talking.

Pennywise the clown seems to be present in the New England town and he’s leaving his mark. In what can only be described as a stroke of pure marketing genius, a singular red balloon has mysteriously appeared in the window of Stephen King’s home in Bangor.  The red balloon is a trademark clue that the terrifying clown is lurking nearby and is really a brilliant promotion for the film.

King has not yet commented on the balloon’s appearance, however, the folks of Bangor are certainly enjoying the playful promotion.  Check out a report from one of the local Maine news stations below:

In the new film, Bill Skarsgard plays the role of Pennywise the clown, a demon clown which terrorizes children in the quiet town of Derry, Maine.   The film also stars Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor and is directed by Andrés Muschietti.

The first installment of the two-part production of It will be creeping into theaters on September 8th.  Are you scared yet?
