‘Hocus Pocus’ Star Vinessa Shaw Channels the Sanderson Sisters with Her Adorable Pregnancy Announcement
The winner of the most amazing social media post made this week, without a doubt, goes to Hocus Pocus star Vinessa Shaw!
Shaw starred as Allison is Disneys hit 1993 film. The film told the story of three witch sisters, Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy) Sanderson who were resurrected after 300 years. The witches seek to take over Salem, Massachusetts using their dark magic and specifically to capture the souls of children. When Max (Ormi Katz), his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and Allison challenge the truth of an urban legend, the three kids must do everything they can to stop the Sanderson sisters.
The character of Mary Sanderson had a very particular talent which the sisters utilized throughout the film – she had a nose for kids! One of the character’s signature lines was, “I smell children!”
Shaw took to social media on Monday and joyously announced that she is expecting her first child. Her first announcement was an adorable picture of her and her husband Kristopher Gifford standing in front of a backdrop which is covered with the phrase, “Great news! I am pregnant!” The photo is accompanied with the caption, “Great News! We are proud and excited to share that we are expecting a little one early next year!…My hubby is a graphic designer, so I hope you appreciate his cheekiness ”
Following the somewhat traditional announcement, Shaw just couldn’t help herself from getting a little silly. She posted a second announcement using the coolest Hocus Pocus reference that the internet has ever seen. Her second post is a photo of a pregnancy test surrounded by a Hocus Pocus themed border with text that reads, “Winnie, I smell . . . a child. It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus.”
Shaw captioned her photo with the following, “Maybe I should have used this for my pregnancy announcement?? #anythinggoes”
