‘The Walking Dead’ Looks Back at the Most Jaw-Dropping Moment from its Very First Episode

It truly is a milestone for any television series to make it to its 100th episode.  For the cast and crew over at AMC’s The Walking Dead, the magnitude of such an accomplishment is certainly not lost on them.

Earlier last week, the cast got together in a video to say ‘thank you’ and to show their appreciation to fans of the series for being the reason the series has been on for so long and also the reason why it will continue for many years to come.  It’s hard to believe that the first episode of The Walking Dead premiered 7 years ago back on October 21st, 2010.  Who would have thought it could become the pop-cultural phenomenon that it is today?

The early seasons of The Walking Dead arguably contain some of the best episodes as well as some of the most shocking and epic moments from the entire seris.  In preparation leading up to the monumental 100th episode, AMC and The Walking Dead took a trip down memory lane, back to the very first episode of the series.  The show’s Instagram account published some season 1 goodies for fans to enjoy including the first season promotional poster, a look at the most pivotal scene from episode 1 and, for extra fun, the first ever trailer for The Walking Dead.

The first poster shows the iconic image of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) on his horse riding down an empty highway into the city of Atlanta with the countless number of abandoned cars on the other side, leading away from the city.  This is the very beginning of everything!  He’s riding into the city where he’ll eventually get stuck in the tank, meet Glenn and the others and their story officially begins:

The jaw-dropping moment from season 1, episode 1 was the first shock for audiences watching the series.  Rick rolls up to an abandoned gas station and finds a lost little girl (Addy Miller) wandering around amongst the abandoned cars.  When he calls out to her and she turns around, Rick gets the shock of his life and realizes the world, as he once knew it, is no more:

And, for extra nostalgia, who could forget the captivating trailer for season 1?  This is back when Rick Grimes was just a man looking for his wife and child.  My, how things have changed!

Who remembers the Season 1 trailer? #TWD100
