Thor: Ragnarok might not be out yet, but we already know the most quotable line from the film. But what if I told you that line wasn’t even planned? In fact, Director Take Waititi revealed to MTV News that “about 80% of the film was improvised”. Though credit for this golden line doesn’t go Chris Hemsworth nor script writers. So who does get credit for the “He’s a friend from work” line?
Well during San Diego Comic Con, Chris Hemsworth gave Entertainment Weekly the scoop. Spoiler Alert: All of the feels ahead!
We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid on set that day. And in between the takes I was talking with him… and he goes, ‘You know, you should say, “He’s a friend from work!”’ – Chris Hemsworth
Now in case you don’t know, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is a charity that fulfills the wishes of terminally ill children; and this young kid wanted to visit the set of Thor: Ragnarok. And we’re glad his wish came true! Chris Hemsworth went on to say that he still keeps in contact with this young man, which makes this all the more heartwarming.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is supposed to give sick children an experience of a lifetime, and yet we have a kid giving us all the line of a lifetime. We might not know what his name was, but his impact on us and this film will live on!
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 3rd!
