Is There Hope for an ‘Originals’ Spinoff?

With the recent news of The Originals’ fifth season being its final season and The Vampire Diaries officially ending in March 2017, fans of both supernatural series have been left wondering what could possibly fill this huge void.

Rumors have swirled that there is a possibility of a spinoff centering around the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin), Hope Mikaelson. As of the last season, Hope is still a child, but she possesses great supernatural powers which already has made her a popular target.

What better place to send a young and inexperienced witch than the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted? The supernatural haven for ‘special’ children was created by Caroline Forbes (Candice King) and Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) in the series finale of The Vampire Diaries. They were coincidentally given a generous donation by Klaus. Hmmm, the magical possibilities are churning! The idea of a new show starting where The Vampire Diaries and The Originals left off and carrying on their combined worlds with new characters is AMAZING!

At Wednesday’s 2017 Summer TCA Press Tour, The CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz indicated that he and show creator, Julie Plec, have had discussions on the topic. He stated, “There’s been many conversations about the character of Hope, but again, it’s still too early in the process,” Pedowitz said. ‘I want Julie to deal with this final season.”

The fact that the thought has crossed their minds is promising. All we can do now is cross our fingers and maybe cast a tiny magical spell of our own to make this happen!
