‘Game of Thrones’: Ice and Fire Join together for Anticipated Meeting

On Sunday’s episode The Queen’s Justice, we finally saw the meeting between two of our favorites-Jon and Daenerys.

Daenerys Targaryen did not welcome Jon Snow with smiles and laughs, though. Their banter sort of went like this…

Dany: Hi. Thanks for coming. Kneel and tell me that I’m Queen.

Jon: No, there’s a dead army coming to kill us all.

Dany: You’re making me angry, kneel and tell me I’m queen.

Jon: Why would I do that? None of that will matter when an army of cold ice creatures kills us all and the throne will just be covered in skeletons.

Dany: You’re crazy and I should have my dragons eat you. But you are charismatic and Tyrion told me to help you.

Just imagine a lot of that, until Tyrion intervenes and convinces her to at least throw him a stone. (Or, dragonstone rather.) She allows him to mine for the stone which he believes is able to kill the Nightking and his dead glowing army.

A couple things to keep in mind when talking these two, Dany is Snow’s aunt and Snow is more than likely also a Targaryen. This sort of clowns out the rumors that they may develop some sort of love connection. But, I mean, we’ve seen worse on the show. (Ahem. Cersei and Jaime you scoundrels.)

Kit Harington and Emilie Clarke talked to EW and here’s what they had to say.

“I predicted, like everyone, they would meet this season, but I don’t think I predicted it quite as quickly, but then again, you’ve got to take yourself out of the mindset of the viewer. As far as Jon knows, he’s just meeting this queen he’s heard of and trying to negotiate with her — he’s not meeting Daenerys, who the audience has been watching for so many years. That helps with the surprise of it. He walks into the room and doesn’t expect to see such a beautiful young woman of similar age to him. Any young man’s reaction is going to be, ‘Okay…’ but he puts that aside, because he has to.”

Clarke added, “I had an idea it was coming this season, sure. It was fun to play — she doesn’t like him and she doesn’t believe him.”

What did you think of the meeting between these two super forces?

A little funny? A little refreshing maybe?

Be sure to catch Game of Thrones every Sunday at 9 ET on HBO.
