‘Deadpool 2’ will compare to ‘Rush Hour’, according to Rob Liefeld

Deadpool arrived in theaters last year, you could say it was completely unique and unlike any comic book movie we had even seen before. The twisted dark humor on-top of the addition of Ryan Reynolds was just absolutely perfect. Also, it’s a super hero movie… so there was plenty of action involved. So, essentially it had a commonality with just about every single other superhero movie.

The sequel, however, will have something in common with a completely different film. Not superhero related.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld says that with the inclusion of Josh Brolin as Cable, Deadpool 2 is going to essentially be a comic book buddy cop movie, comparing it to the Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan franchise Rush Hour.

[Josh Brolin’s] such a great actor, that’s where it starts, and gravitas, and who else really is going to hold their ground with Ryan as Wade/Deadpool? That is energy unbridled, and so you’ve gotta hold your ground. When I see the two of them I’m like ‘It’s going to be comic book’s equivalent to Rush Hour‘, and I don’t know if comic fans are ready for it. I think it’s going to be great.

A comparison between the two doesn’t seem that odd or that far off if you think about it. Deadpool could be compared to Chris Tucker’s character (both being goofy jokesters) and Cable would mirror that of Jackie Chan (the straight forward and go by the book kinda guy).

Rob Liefeld has also stated in past interviews that he’s not sure if fans are ready for the Deadpool sequel. I mean, a superhero buddy cop comedy on the big screen… especially when that superhero is Deadpool can only mean that you know something absolutely ridiculous is going to be going on.

Regardless of the film it compares to, we are super stoked for the film. We need some more Wade Wilson in our lives!

Deadpool 2 will hit theaters in 2018.
