Fans of Arrow have not been shy to express their excitement when they learned that the DC based TV Series would not be getting flashbacks every single episode, just like in the previous 5 seasons. They claimed, and I have to agree to a point, that they did cause a bit of a distraction on the show. Pretty much, the ‘cool’ factor of the flasbacks got a bit tiring.
While we will not be getting a steady flow of flashbacks this season, as confirmed in previous interviews by Showrunner Wendy Mericle, we can still expect to see a few sporadically… which I am personally very okay with! Especially when it comes to some of the shows other characters… like Slade Wilson!
The sixth season, which is now filiming in Vancouver, will be having some flashback sequences although it is going to be in a different format than the past five seasons. This season, flashbacks will be character-centric, including a two-part episode focused entirely on Deathstroke.
“You’re gonna still see flashbacks. It won’t be every episode and it won’t be serialized. They’ll be character specific and I’ll give you one example… as you saw in the trailer Manu Bennett is back for the season premiere and he’s also coming back for a special two-part episode in the first half of the season where we’re really going to be focusing hard on his character, post everything he’s experienced on the show and we intend to do a Slade Wilson flashback story.”
Manu Bennett made his debut in the Arrowverse as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in Arrow’s first season, serving as Oliver’s mentor. In the second season, he turned into Oliver’s most formidable enemy after he blamed Oliver for Shado’s death.
Slade disappeared for awhile (with a brief appearance in Season 3), but made a surprising comeback in the Season 5 finale. Which was pretty awesome!
I’m not going to even bother to try and hide my excitement, I’m super stoked for some more Deathstroke! Flashback, or not!
Who is with me!?
